Getaway on Saturdays from Algeciras
Day 1 – Algeciras – Tetouan
Board the ferry boat to the city of Ceuta. Upon arrival, accommodation by coach, border management and departure to Tetouan.
Our Saturday begins in the city of Tetouan, which has been the capital of the Spanish “protectorate” until 1956 and the most Andalusian city in Morocco, because it is also known as “La Paloma Blanca” . Visit of the medina and some of its most characteristic souks and markets , with time for shopping. Through the Jewish quarter (or mellah) we will arrive at Plaza Hassan II, where the Royal Palace is located.
Discovering the Medina
In the medina we will cross the boulevards and cafes that date back to the time of the protectorate. Between the stops we observe the typical clothing of the Rif region, the bread ovens , some mosques . At lunch time, we will enter the typical restaurant enlivened with folklore from the region . Once lunch is over, we will continue for a short walk and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 3 – Tetouan – Chaouen and return to Algeciras
Breakfast and continuation of the trip to Chaouen , the blue city. Settled in a valley in the Rif mountain range. Its name, which means “horns” in the Rif dialect, alludes to the two mountain peaks visible from the city, founded in 1471 by exiled Muslims and Jews from Al-Andalus. These imitated the narrow and irregular layout of the Andalusian towns, and whitewashed their houses in shades of blue, a custom that is preserved by its current inhabitants.

There will be a walking tour beginning with the exteriors of the Alcazaba and the octagonal mosque , located in the Uta Hammam square and crossing the entire medina we will go up to the Ras Al-Ma spring, to the north and beyond the walls that surround it.
This spring supplies water to the innumerable fountains scattered throughout the town.
At the end of the visit, lunch and then free time to enjoy the city at your leisure and do your shopping. At the time indicated by the guide, we will return to our coach to make the transfer back to Ceuta. Boarding back to Algeciras.
