Córdoba is located in a depression on the banks of the Guadalquivir and at the foot of the Sierra Morena. It is the third largest and most populous city in Andalusia after Seville and Malaga. In its old town we can still see buildings with architectural elements from when Córdoba was the capital of Hispania Ulterior in times of the Roman Republic, or of the Baetica province during the Roman Empire and the Caliphate of Córdoba during the Muslim era, whose leaders ruled much of the Iberian Peninsula. We will make a panoramic visit, starting by crossing the Roman Bridge and admiring the Torre de Calahorra before reaching the Old Town. Its historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994. Ten years earlier, in 1984, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba had been. We will visit this monument (tickets and local guide included) which, without a doubt, was the most important in the entire Islamic West and one of the most amazing in the world. It is an ancient city, which has the second largest historic center in Europe. It is precisely here that a large part of the city’s historic buildings are concentrated.
