Our trip begins at the meeting point on the map: Hotel La Garganta (Reception).
How to get? You can go by car and leave it parked near the hotel. From there, we go with the shuttle bus to the entrance of the path. The route ends at our meeting point.
If you want to come by the Cercanías train, the El Chorro station is right in front of the Hotel.
We have included the shuttle bus at the beginning of the journey.
The guide will accompany you to the entrance of the path, where you will be provided with a cap and a protective helmet. The route begins, during the visit our guide will comment on curiosities about the construction of the path and the geology of the place.

El Caminito del Rey is a tour of the Gaitanes Gorge, on its cliffsides. With a length of 3 kilometers that has long stretches and a width of just 1 meter. It begins in the town of Ardales, crosses the one of Antequera (province of Malaga), and concludes in El Chorro (Álora). The path of the hike is vertiginous as it hangs from the vertical walls of the gorge and at an average distance of 100 meters above the river.
It’s name dates back to 1921 when King Alfonso XIII crossed this road after the inauguration of the dam of the Count of Guadalhorce. It was then that it began to be called El Caminito del Rey. The passage of time and its disuse caused it to deteriorate greatly and become the most dangerous path in Europe, claiming numerous victims.
In 2014, rehabilitation works began for the regular transit of visitors. A year later, a 7-kilometer path was opened to the public without any risk to pedestrians.
The route runs between the Guadalhorce-Guadalteba reservoir and the town of El Chorro. A parallel walk to the railroad tracks where you can walk and enjoy the famous gorges of the Gaitanes and the Gaitanejo.
After a brief welcome talk at the gateway to the trail, we will begin our walking route crossing the 7 kilometers restored path. Where we can enjoy the breathtaking views and interpret all aspects of this natural environment in the company of our guide.

How long does it take to turn to it?
The walks, due to the dangerous situation that was involved in the restoration, is the most popular part of the tour. The distance between the entrance through the control box and the exit is 2.9 km., spread between 1.5 km of walkways and 1.4 km. from the path to the forest track. But at these distances there is a sum of 2.7 kms. by path from the north entrance and 2.1 kms. from the input on to the control cases. All the estimated time to complete the entire tour (stretch from the port of one footpath to another, more trails or forest trails to reach/exit from the area) takes between 3 and 4 hours.
