What documents do I need to enter Gibraltar?
You only need your valid ID card or passport if you are a citizen of the European Union. If you are not, check on the consulate website.
Start your visit on Main Street
As the name suggests, “Main Street” is the main street of Gibraltar, and around it are several points of interest:
- Have a drink in one of the terraces of Casemates Square, a lively square that was formerly part of the fortress of Gibraltar.
- Visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria La Coronada, which is built on the site of a former mosque and belongs to the Gothic style.
- You will also find the Town Hall, King’s Chapel and the courthouse where John Lennon and Yoko Ono were married.
- Enter its duty free stores and buy some souvenirs such as tobacco, perfumes or cosmetic products. You will be able to buy using Euros but be sure to calculate the exchange rate.
Enjoy the views of the Rock of Gibraltar
One of the best things to do in Gibraltar is to enjoy its wonderful views. To do this you will have to climb the Rock. You can do it on foot or if you prefer using the cable car, whose price is around 20 € (round trip).
However, if you are in good shape, we recommend that you walk up to enjoy the views and to see its canyons, fortresses and tunnels, which will transport you to other times.

Are there monkeys in Gibraltar?
Yes, these monkeys are found on the Rock of Gibraltar (there are about 500 macaque monkeys), but be careful with them, as they can steal something from you. You don’t have to be afraid of them either, they won’t do anything to you if you follow the indications on the signs such as not getting too close to them or not leaving food or bags in sight.
Natural surroundings: Beaches and St. Michael’s Cave
On a visit to Gibraltar you can not miss a walk or a swim in its beaches. One of the most famous beaches is the Playa de los Catalanes, with its colorful houses, but there are more, such as the Levante beach and the West beach.

In Punta Europa, the southernmost area of Gibraltar, you will find the Lighthouse, managed by Trinity House and a mequita, called the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque.
In this mosque only believers can enter, but it is curious to see from the outside. In addition, from the Punta Europa you can enjoy beautiful views of the coast of Morocco and a beautiful sunset over the strait.
