If you are in Marrakech and would like to see some waterfalls and the occasional traditional Moroccan village, consider a trip to the Ourika Valley Waterfalls, always taking into account our tips.
These waterfalls are called Setti Fatma waterfalls and are located just 2 hours from Marrakech. Some say it is the beach of Marrakech and is that in summer they are full of people who go for a swim. As on the beaches, they usually bring their umbrellas, chairs, towels and coolers.

How do I get to the Ourika Valley?
There are three options to get to the Ourika Valley: You can rent a car and drive yourself, you can hire a guided excursion to the Valley or if you prefer you can hire a Grand Taxi.
If you want, you can pay for the 5 seats in the cab to go alone with your friends, partner or family. If you want the trip to be more economical and there are less than 5 of you, you can share the cab with other travelers.

What can I see in the Ourika Valley?
- You can go to the viewpoint of Mount Atlas to enjoy a nice view. If you are lucky, you may see some camels and dromedaries there.
- You can see the village of Setti Fatma.
- You can see the Setti Fatma Waterfalls, of course. Although, keep in mind that in summer there are many people bathing in them. In spring and autumn you will be able to see them and bathe with more tranquility.
- At Sett Fatma Waterfalls you may encounter some monkeys along the way.
How many waterfalls are there in the Ourika Valley?
In total there are 7 waterfalls that you can visit, but if you hire a tour they will only take you to see the first one, which is also the largest.
If you want to see them all, it is best to go on your own in a cab or rental car. You can trek to see them all and then stay overnight in the village of Sett Fatma.
Where to eat in the Ourika Valley?
Here you have several options. Of course, you can bring a picnic and enjoy it in nature with the waterfalls in the background.
Another option is to eat in the village of Setti Fatma, where you can find several restaurants of typical Moroccan food that are not bad value for money.
What to do in Setti Fatma village?
- You can go to an Argan Oil store, a typical product of this region. There they will show you how it is made and give you a taste of various types of oil.
- You can also visit a typical Berber house, where you will see their utensils and handicrafts. You can take the opportunity to take home a unique souvenir. If you like Moroccan tea, here the owners of the house usually offer you one, as is customary in the Moroccan tradition.
- Another activity you can do if you are lucky is to visit a local market. Depending on the day of the week you go to Ourika it will be in one village or another in the area, so you’d better find out before you go.
- In Setti Fatma village it gets cold at night even in summers, so don’t forget to bring a jacket or a sweatshirt besides sunscreen.
