When the summer season arrives, one of the activities are water sports. Of all of them, kayaking is perfect to enjoy with family or friends, since you don’t have to be an expert to practice it and it can be done at any age.
It is also an ideal sport to cool off and combat the high temperatures, as it invites you to take a good swim.
That’s why today we bring you beautiful routes that you can do by kayak along the coast. In all these places, you can even find kayaks for rent that you can buy by the day or by the hour.
What are the options?
There are guided excursions for you to sail to the most beautiful places of the Andalusian coast. In all these routes there are options for all levels suitable in difficulty and duration.
Another option is to rent a kayak by the hour, being careful not to access dangerous places.
In any case, these are the best routes:
Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo, in Malaga.
From Burriana beach, in the municipality of Nerja, a must-see white village, kayak excursions depart so you can see this beautiful area where you will find diverse flora and fauna, caves and the Maro cliff with its waterfall. The excursions last between two and three hours.
If you prefer to go on your own you can go from cove to cove with your kayak, starting with the beach of Nerja, where the series “Verano Azul” was filmed.
This is one of the best kayaking routes due to the beauty of the landscape and the crystal clear waters. If you dare you must see these points: Cueva del Lobo, Casa de las Gaviotas, Maro cove (where if you have the opportunity, you should snorkel), Cascada de las Doncellas and of course, Maro waterfall.
Take advantage of your stay in Malaga to live another adventure, hiring our excursion to “El caminito del Rey” from Malaga or Costa del Sol for only 59€.
La Herradura Beach, in Granada, Spain.
Just going to visit the Herradura beach is worth it for its beautiful scenery. If you add kayaking to that, the experience is enriched.
There you can rent a kayak for two if you want to go on your own from 15€ per hour. You can also hire a guided tour in advance to take you to the most beautiful caves and areas.
Discover the Cueva de las Palomas, with orange coral walls. Learn about the Posidonia oceanica, an endangered species that you can see on the coast of Granada. If you like snorkeling, visit the Cala Calaiza Cove.
After the adventure, you can have lunch at one of the many restaurants on the Herradura beach to recharge your batteries and continue your trip.
Mermaid reef in Cabo de Gata, Almeria, Spain
You may wonder why it owes its name. Well, its name comes from the fact that the reef was visited by monk seals. The sailors, then, mistook their howls for siren songs.
It is one of the best routes because all those who have been to Cabo de Gata fall in love with the place and recommend their visit.
The kayak excursions that are offered, last about 3 hours, with a stop in a cove to rest a little. Only by kayak you will be able to access places impossible to see in any other way, although the most impressive are “The reef of the Sirens” and the fossil dune of the Escullos”.
If you do not want such a dense excursion or if you have children with you, there are excursions that last less time and are adapted to your level.
